Freddie is Schools Week’s deputy editor and political editor. He helps edit the newspaper and its website and manage its team of reporters.
He also leads the paper’s coverage of politics and Parliament, as well as specific policy issues such as school funding, staff pay and conditions, unions and children’s rights.
He represents the organisation at prominent public events such as trade union and political party conferences.
Freddie has been writing about public policy for most of his career, initially as a senior reporter for the Gloucester Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo, and then as the Oxford Mail’s political and local government reporter.
He joined our sister paper, FE Week, in January 2014, and moved to the Schools Week team in August 2015, becoming its political reporter.
He became chief reporter in August 2017 and then deputy and political editor in January 2022.
