Jean-Louis Dutaut has been commissioning editor of Schools Week for five years and is content director for the Festival of Education. He has also had spells as commissioning editor for FE Week.

Jean-Louis had a sliding doors moment in 2004, when he chose a career in education over one in journalism. After 15 years in classrooms and leadership positions in schools and colleges teaching everything from media and politics to drama and French (and even some music), he returned to writing with the highly successful Flip The System UK.

Various media columns and blogs saw him eventually find a home for his skills and values at EducationScape, where he is proud to have led the eradication of headlines starting with ‘Schools should…’ and to have given the full breadth and diversity of the profession a platform to use its voice.
