AI and Assessment: Making it work for all

With Daisy Christodoulou

Join education expert Daisy Christodoulou for a focused and thought-provoking training day to explore the realities of AI in assessment.

June 23 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm BST

Join leading education expert Daisy Christodoulou for a focused and thought-provoking training day exploring the realities of AI in assessment and what schools must do to respond effectively.

This course is structured around three linked sessions that move from understanding to challenges to solutions.

The day begins with The Big Picture: what AI can and cannot do, providing a clear, accessible overview of AI and large language models, their strengths and limitations, and the current good and bad uses of AI in education. You will also explore how AI is likely to develop in the coming years and the key barriers and complexities that will shape its improvement.

The second session, AI and Assessment: the challenges, examines the profound implications AI has for current assessment practices, with a focus on extended written assessments. You will explore the problems AI poses for reliable summative grading, the difficulties of using AI to provide high-quality formative feedback, and the growing issue of AI plagiarism and its impact on traditional homework and assessment models.

The final session, AI and Assessment: the solutions, focuses on practical responses. Bring your laptop as this will be a hands-on session where you will gain an in-depth understanding of No More Marking’s new AI features for extended written assessments. You will take part in Comparative Judgement of real student writing, see if you agree with the AI, evaluate the effectiveness of different types of automated feedback, and understand how you can use all of these features in your school.

Throughout the day, participants will gain a realistic, evidence-informed understanding of how AI can be used thoughtfully and responsibly in schools, without undermining learning, assessment or professional judgement.
