SUMMARY:Teach Like a Champion Live in Bangkok: The Science of Reading in Action
DESCRIPTION:Join Doug Lemov for an exclusive training event in Bangkok. This one-day professional learning experience offers educators the opportunity to learn directly from one of the world’s most influential voices in teaching and learning. \nDrawing on the latest research from cognitive science and the principles explored in The Teach Like a Champion Guide to the Science of Reading\, this highly practical workshop will unpack how students become powerful readers after phonics\, and what great literacy instruction looks like from primary through to secondary education and beyond. \nThroughout the day\, Doug will translate research into clear\, actionable classroom techniques. Using video from outstanding classrooms\, curriculum examples and guided practice\, participants will explore how to strengthen reading comprehension\, build knowledge\, and develop students who read with confidence\, fluency\, and purpose. \nWhat you’ll explore \nThis workshop focuses particularly on the language comprehension strand of Scarborough’s Reading Rope\, making it ideal for educators working with Grade 2 and above across English and other subject areas. \nKey themes include: \n\nThe critical role of background knowledge in reading comprehension\nThe critical and overlooked challenge of disfluency\nStrategies for building and sustaining student attention\nCreating strong communities of readers through shared reading\nUsing purposeful writing to deepen understanding of texts\nDeveloping vocabulary and knowledge systematically\nApproaches to text complexity and close reading across subjects\nThe research supporting the reading of whole books in English classrooms.\n\n  \nDoug will also share seven key principles for developing strong readers “post-phonics”\, the stage when students have mastered letter–sound correspondence but must now learn how to read increasingly complex texts throughout their academic journey. \nA practical\, high-impact learning experience \nParticipants will: \n\nPractise instructional techniques that strengthen literacy teaching\nExplore lesson examples and curriculum materials developed by Doug and his team\nWatch and analyse video from top classrooms\nDevelop strategies that can be applied across all subject areas\nLeave with resources and materials to use immediately in their schools\n\n  \nIn case you haven’t read Doug’s new book here’s what Daniel Willingham has to say about it: \n“I love this book. Every teacher who asks their students to read will find it becomes the most worn on their shelf; it’s a wellspring of clear explanation of the science of reading\, and practical strategies for helping students become successful readers.” \nAnd here’s what a school head in Washington\, D.C. had to say: \n“This book is simply PHENOMENAL to guide an adolescent literacy program. The text features an ideal mix of research and practical insights that I can implement tomorrow in our classrooms.” \nEvent details \n\nVenue: Grande Centre Point Prestige Bangkok\nPrice: £250 ((฿10\,763) per person add on a ticket to the Thailand Festival of Education for an extra £75 ((฿3\,235).\nIncludes: Lunch\, refreshments\, and workshop resources\n\n  \nWhy attend? \nThis is a rare opportunity to learn directly from Doug in an intimate workshop setting. Whether you teach English\, humanities\, science or any other subject\, the strategies explored will help you build stronger readers\, deepen comprehension\, and strengthen classroom practice. \nBook before the 31 May and save 20%.

SUMMARY:Re-Imagining Education: Action and Change with Integrity and Imagination
DESCRIPTION:How can your organisation respond to the enormous challenges of our current moment with integrity\, courage and imagination? How can your learning community become a place where alternative futures are not simply discussed\, but actively created? \nDelivered in partnership with The Bridge at Wellington College\, this innovative year-long professional learning programme is designed for educators\, leaders and practitioners working across schools\, colleges\, training providers and wider learning organisations who want to move beyond reacting to challenges and instead cultivate the conditions for meaningful\, lasting change. \nAs a taster of the programme\, Elke will lead a session at the 2026 UK Festival of Education exploring two urgent questions: How can educators respond to a world in crisis and create alternative futures in the present? and How can imagination be put to work in educational spaces as a catalyst for change? The session will offer insight into the wider module-based programme running throughout the 2026/27 academic year. \nThrough a blend of thought-provoking dialogue\, practical tools and collaborative inquiry\, participants will explore imaginative approaches to improvement and transformation\, shifting the focus from problem-solving and crisis intervention towards possibility\, purpose and integrity. \nOver 12 months\, participants will engage in two in-person and three online learning experiences\, supported by coaching\, peer collaboration and structured opportunities for reflection and discussion. All participants will also gain access to a dedicated community space on the EduScape platform\, enabling ongoing connection\, collaboration and resource sharing throughout the programme. \nParticipants will identify a challenge or opportunity within their own organisation and work collaboratively to co-design an imaginative and actionable change project. Whether focused on culture\, curriculum\, learner engagement\, wellbeing\, leadership or organisational development\, the programme will support participants to turn ideas into meaningful action. \nThe programme culminates with an opportunity to share reflections\, learning and impact at the 2027 Festival of Education\, showcasing how imagination can become a powerful force for transformation across schools\, colleges and training providers. \nRegister now and save £100 before end September
